3-Day Porcelain Wheel Workshop with Hüseyin Artik 1- 3 July

€780.00

Intermediate level

Exploring porcelain through sculptural form, proportion, and quiet precision.

This three-day workshop offers potters the opportunity to experience the unique beauty and sensitivity of porcelain through a focused, form-led approach. Working on the wheel, participants will explore proportion, balance, and visual weight, developing sculptural forms that respond to porcelain’s translucency, strength, and precision.

The workshop centres on making sculptural, non-functional work, allowing space for experimentation, refinement, and repetition. While porcelain may be new to some participants, the course is designed for those already confident working with stoneware, supporting a thoughtful transition into this demanding and rewarding material.

This workshop is suitable for potters who may be working with porcelain for the first time, but it is not suitable for complete beginners. Participants should be confident throwing with stoneware at an intermediate level.

Workshop Structure

Day 1 – Introduction to Porcelain & Sculptural Form

An introduction to porcelain as a material and its behaviour on the wheel. The day focuses on establishing control and confidence through simple sculptural forms as a way into understanding the material.

Day 2 – Developing Form & Open Forms

Building on the first day’s work, participants explore scale, volume, and proportion, with a focus on making open forms. Attention is given to visual weight, balance, and sculptural intention.

Day 3 – Trimming & Refinement

The final day is dedicated to trimming and refining work made during the workshop, with an emphasis on balance, finish, and clarity of form.

Firing & Shipping

A small, selected group of finished pieces will be shipped following the course.

All selected work must fit into one box measuring 40 × 40 × 40 cm. Final selections will be made together during the workshop.

Shipping is limited to one box per participant.
